At the age of fifteen, while most first world teenagers are racking up an embarrassment of riches, Hungarian born, Sandor Lakatos was working on a clothing line. His grandmother, the manager of the factory in Lakatos small industrial hometown of Tatabánya for which he worked, showed him the ways of the cloth. To no surprise, it was there, where he found a passion for sewing and design. In 2005, Sandor Lakatos launched his line, “Sandor Lakatos Menswear”, slowly inching himself deeper and deeper within the seams of the fashion industry. Eight years later, in 2013, Lakatos was featured in “Vogue Italia’s” new talents section. His career took an immediate upturn.
The Sandor Lakatos Spring/ Summer 2015 collection takes pieces once thought of as staples and renovates them: an asymmetrical two toned blazer, a button down gilet, soon to be classics in the Sandor Lakatos world of flamboyant design. The lookbook modeled by a slick Mediterranean gentleman, dancing, jumping, and twisting his way through each image, makes one wonder, if the pieces can withstand such forceful, gymnastic mischief, what can’t they do?
