Living by the philosophy of “if you want it, go for it, but never look back”, Lee Suk-Tae’s anthem of life could not be demonstrated more literal than with his no holds barred Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
After graduating from a Parisian fashion school in 1997, Korean-based Lee wasted no time building his lengthy list of achievements in the fashion industry. After brief stints at Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel, Lee launched Kaal E Suktae, going on to win the coveted JDG design competition.
Lee knows how to create a clothing line for women that will prosper on just about anyone. For his latest collection, Lee introduced neo-chic on smoke-hazed runways, giving the illusion that the models were walking on clouds. These cool downtown girls, outfitted in chunky-heeled sandals, jumpsuits and flowing, wide-legged trousers– some bedazzled with buttons down the pants– further catapults his label into the crazy-sexy-cool style status.
Playing with textures, Lee mixes lightweight knits with mesh, vinyl and leather, while intermingling abstract prints with sheer. Multiple-paneled sections in noir, white and navy intermix with splashes of orange, cobalt blue and lime green to adorn a plethora of mod-inspired looks.
If this cool girl collection foreshadows his future, the wait for the next season’s collection only intensifies.
