Breaking into the fashion world has its endless litany of obstacles, which is precisely why the International Woolmark Prize chooses to recognize new and rising talent from around the world. After competing regionally, designer finalists are chosen to represent the United States, Europe, Australia, India and the Middle East, and Asia, each to be judged within the coming months in either the womenswear or menswear category. This year, for the first time ever, the Woolmark Prize will be claimed by two victors, giving each designer the opportunity to have their wool capsule collections stocked and displayed in esteemed retailers such as Isetan, Saks Fifth Avenue, 10 Corso Como, David Jones, Joyce Hong Kong, and Harvey Nichols beginning in the summer of 2015.
This year’s consummate designers include, in the menswear division, Asger Juel Larsen, Public School, Sise, Strateas.Carlucci, and The Emperor 1688; the womenswear division includes Augustin Teboul, Bird on a Wire, M. Patmos, Strateas.Carlucci, and VMajor. Winning the International Woolmark Prize is an accolade like no other, one that refreshing, rising talent hopes to attain in order to incise their label name on all international territories within the fashion world.
