Ambitious and young, the second-year Parsons School of Design student, Colleen Allen, debuted her first collection for her New York-based namesake label, taking the unorthodox route of starting a brand while still finishing her degree. The uber creative and determined designer developed her talent early and quickly, learning the business from labels, such as Wes Gordon and Pamela Roland.
For Spring/Summer, Allen brings a menswear collection that revels the ability to serve both genders while simultaneously erasing stereotypical lines. Monochromatic in color, these looks find their pizazz in the uncommon design attributes with oversized and pushed-to-extreme pieces, such as extra long black trousers and a white top with exaggerated sleeves. Another noteworthy aspect is Allen’s dare-to-be-different attitude, which is evident with the creation of the male skirt. A risk taker with off-the-chart talent, Allen ensures years of exciting and groundbreaking designs following her already incredible momentum
