Oversized, conceptual trousers and overcoats of nubby tweed reflected the harsher side of New York City in Daniel Gregory Natale’s graduate collection. The New York-based designer injects the grit of his native city into menswear-inspired separates which reflect the chill of approaching winter. Oversized blouses with seductive open backs and floor-length shirt dresses provided a softened masculinity to compliment the pieced-material woolen jackets and amorphous shearling tunics. Neutral greys and creams add to the winter camouflage, allowing the raw assemblage its full prominence as Natale’s trademark style. The result: a tenacious blend of intentional incompletion and resilient cross-sexual expression to face the cutting winter temperatures.
