An Oasis of Serenity: Kaelen Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

Women, Fashion, Campaigns, Collections

Polar white tops and knee-length skirts fit for summer exposure, edged with fringe detail and cool colors taken from northern sunsets, was the vision for Kaelen’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Canadian designer Kaelen Haworth takes inspiration from her self-proclaimed idols Joan Didion and Tilda Swinton to create minimalist designs injected with intrinsic detailing, all of which tease between simple femininity and elegant androgyny. For this season’s offerings, Haworth blessed us with long-lined tunics adorned by pleated bell sleeves and cold shoulder cropped tops that balanced the whimsical tie-waist on grey trousers, while pencil skirts and slip dresses in rose lamé injected a hint of early spring warmth into the soft winter white and ash grey palette. The straight-cut dresses and boxy culottes were softened by slouchy tops and merino belts, transforming cool summer wardrobe silhouettes into New York City chic.
