For New York Fashion Week, Chris Gelinas presented a Fall/Winter 2016 collection for his label CG that seemed to bring a ‘50s flare to very contemporary patterns. A-line dresses reminiscent of poodle skirts were given a modern spin with embellishments like a dramatic noir lace over red backdrop, layers of ruffles and round gold snap buttons. A gold lame dress is grounded in the present day with its bold blending of coloring and skintight sleeves with long, black satin gloves. Floral prints made appearances in different pieces like a collared dress with black lining and a flowing skirt with an off the shoulder neckline. With this collection, Gelinas shows off his impeccable skills at balancing retro design inspirations with ladylike silhouettes, creating refreshing new takes on the classics.
