I can see your light, but I love your dark.
Dark, moody and cut with sartorial rigor, Vlades (designed by Moo Yeol Choi) is a mood that evokes a mysterious aura through its wares. With emphasis on silhouette and details to create the perfect piece, Vlades is different from what already exits. Vlades is for the strong, weak and even for the depressed, with a goal for the wearer to look perfect behind their armor (apparel).
For Fall Winter 2016, Vlades presented their collection at Seoul Fashion Week. Goth rocker-esque sensibility entwined with tongue-in-cheek motifs were seen. What’s the humor all about? Well, several sweatshirts had “High Fashion is Dead” slapped across the chest, which further explains the “Vetements” effect of simplicity that we are seeing now. Vlades jumped on the cool train by using a color palate of mainly black and white, save for one gray ensemble. The devil was indeed in the details: zipper finishes in unexpected places allow for flesh to be exposed as well as metal details. Asymmetrical cuts on leather jackets are reminiscent of the great Rick Owens, and is certainly the highlight as well as what most buyers will be stocking up on. It pieces? A pair of men’s leather trousers with zipper details crawling down the sides gives a luxury item so rough edges, as well as a bomber jacket made of black velvet. The result was goth luxury; for those who have expensive taste but love a little darkness on their plate. Eat up.
