Portuguese-born designers Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida offered a decidedly refreshing take on their seasonal runway show, where in lieu of the unvarying model they opted to send out a diverse cast of friends wearing their label’s latest Fall/Winter 2016 looks. The designer’s undying love for realness – real clothes on real women – was evident from the very first look: zipped-up jackets, gingham shirting, oversize sweatshirts and more, all presented in an entirely believable attempt at the nonchalant-chic grab and go. But, if the thrown-together look doesn’t excite you, the wide range of colors will. Dark saturated (and sometimes vibrant) hues played opposites to primal tones and a well-placed tie-dyed slip. Rounded out with several variations of Marques and Almeida’s signature denim, this collection concluded with one clear motive: this one was for the cool girls.
