The Imitation Game: Christopher Shannon Fall/Winter 2017 LFWM

Runway, Men, Collections, Runway

Christopher Shannon was eager to play the imitation game in his Fall/Winter 2017 at London Fashion Week Men. Mimicking iconic motifs like Moschino’s logotape and Calvin Klein’s initialed logo, Shannon repurposed them for his own label in a manner that was cheeky and undoubtedly relevant. In an excessively saturated fashion market, how can emerging designers carve our a name for themselves without replicating the designs of those who came before them? Shannon also toyed with color-blocking in his shirting and outerwear (the indigo and melon denim jacket, a personal favorite) as well as maximal distressing and button detailing.
