Matthew Miller has never shied away from anarchy. Season after season, the modernist designer looks to disruption, preferably political, to fuel his menswear offerings. This season was no except – for his Fall/Winter 2017 offerings Miller channeled the dark cult flick “The Crow” to spark a series of dark, twisted, but surprisingly relateable menswear pieces. While shades of black in varying silhouettes and fabric choices carried the collection from start to finish, the designer floated to highly pigmented prints to add a glimmer of intrigue to each look. While the majority of the collection revolved around concisely structured menswear staples – think single-breasted overcoats to invigoratingly contemporary flight jackets. A full suit in surprisingly dainty wallpaper made its way into Miller’s offerings, as did dashes of silken red scarves, will delicate watercolor printing that gave off the appearance of a blood splatter. Matthew Miller’s rebellious spirit is alive and well.
