Medieval: N-P-Elliott Fall/Winter 2017 NYFW:M

Medieval
Runway, Men, Collections, Runway

Tell us if we’re wrong, but it seems that there’s a recurring reference to the Middle Ages in this Fall/Winter 2017 season at NYFW:M. In N-P-Elliott’s presentation, there was an particularly strong medieval atmosphere. We saw Friar Tuck in the green hoodie layered underneath a vinyl top, while massive fur coats channeled the illustrious Jon Snow. And while there was the addition of page-boy like uniforms (baggy tops with cinched bottoms hems and too-long sleeves), the collection didn’t read as a costume collection at a Renaissance Faire. The Scottish designer infused these influences into contemporary menswear to maintain the brand’s avant-garde appeal. Though he looked to the 5th century, N-P-Elliot’s futuristic and laudable take on medieval archetypes was far more progressive that regressive.
