With a collection as equally quirky and whimsical as her name, Jordana Warmflash looked to an old, floral-embroidered couch for inspiration in her Fall/Winter 2017 collection for Novis. Surprisingly, the collection wasn’t full of dowdy, tweed overcoats as you might have assumed, instead it was just the opposite: full of rich color and feminine shapes. Warmflash took the floral embroidery and gave it a breath of new life as a recurring print throughout. It was interpreted best in a tailored shirt that complimented the rowdy print and it paired stunningly with a high-waisted, micro-gingham trouser. The bubble-knit dress was also a pleasant surprise as was the dress with piñata-like panels of fabric. Both were a bit different from the rest of the collection’s more rigid color-blocking. Warmflash has such a gifted eye for color, and speaking frankly, it’s probably the main strength of this collection. Shades like amethyst, cobalt and carnation pink are all so bold but the designer makes it work in a way that is unexpected and incredibly chic.
