Had Carrigan Crittenden inherited her father’s fortune in the 1995 film Casper, perhaps she would’ve worn the looks showcased at Greedilous’s Fall/Winter 2017 runway. Showing at Concept Korea ( a platform which promotes South Korean talent to a global audience), Youn Hee Park opened the show with posh looks in all-black: tiered frocks, leather ruffles and pearl embellishments were all frightfully (but beautifully) conceited. Though eventually giving way to dynamic color and kaleidoscopic prints, the mood of the collection remained undoubtedly arrogant. A hot-pink fur jacket was draped across the shoulder of a scarlet pantsuit — a look worthy of only the most fashion-forward elite.
Of course, this is all written in mock cynicism. Park’s over-the-top looks were glamorous and praiseworthy. Representing a rare and vivacious side of Korean fashion, Greedilous put on a wonderful and enviable show at New York Fashion Week.
