Jewel Tones: Marta Jakubowski Fall/Winter 2017 LFW

Runway, Women, Collections, Runway

Eighties jewel tones came full-force at Marta Jakubowski’s LFW presentation for Fall/Winter 2017. Concise but cohesive, it was easy to pinpoint the patterns in the Polish designer’s work: fitted tie-front tops with exaggerated ribbons that draped alongside coordinating pants. Sensuous velvets caught the light beautifully, a contrast to the other fabrics. Deconstructed snow jackets were redone as paneled mini-dresses, while the lapel on the black jacket was cut loose and used as a wrap. Jakubowski boasted a clear vision for what she wanted to present during this season and it paid off well. Tastefully vibrant and bold, it felt appropriate for the luxury, ready-to-wear collection. Though perhaps not as showstopping as the rest of its London compatriots, it was an alluring collection all the same.
