Markus Lupfer has never been one to stray far from the spontaneous. No doubt, dozens of hours go into the German designer’s collections, but each season, his product offerings still breathe a sense of whim and whimsy. Lupfer’s Fall/Winter 2017 offerings, shown at London Fashion Week, were no different – patterns, like crisp plaids and delicate flower prints, played with each other, while structured silhouettes flirted with eccentric detailing. A gloriously fluffy white coat, enough in itself, was finished with delightful floral applique down the sleeves. A sequin-filled miniskirt wasn’t enough on its own, it was paired 80’s-approved slick leggings and an anything-but-morose lemon yellow sweater. Illustrative floral prints, that incarnated in skirts, in embroidery, in footwear, in applique, matched with bold striped belts and sumptuous knits.
