Cold Comfort: J´ai Mal à la Tête Fall/Winter 2017

Cold Comfort
Women, Fashion, Lookbook, Collections

For a label that’s name translates quite literally into ‘I have a headache”, there was an easiness to the German label’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection. Focused on crisp basics for men and women, like light turtlenecks, a solid overcoat, an easy frock, a collared shirt – the collection spoke subtly, looking to the beauty in the daily ebbs and flows of life over the grandeur of a head-turning collection. Anja Pawlik, the mind behind the brand, experimented with tones and colors – like a tie-dye tonal gray that took over a simple ruched shift dress, or the pairings of a rust colored turtleneck with azures and houndstooth. A scarf’s pattern, reminiscent of a sunny Mediterranean day, flitted its way throughout the collection, translated onto the back of dress shirts, onto skirt sets, and tied more traditionally around a neck. While the collection spoke with a whisper, not a yell, it was the kind of collection that we could lean on for comfort when the cold winter wins begin blowing.
