Dedicated to all you “Softboys” out there, Sean Suen’s Spring/Summer collection was surprisingly sweet and tender at Paris Fashion Week Men’s. While Paloma Spain made a lot of headlines this season for their hypersexualized and ultrafemme menswear, Suen went the other route with a youthful collection that was ever so slightly whimsical and carefree. Doused in a delicate shade of powder blue, his typical suiting was oversized and unstructured. They hung on the frames of the models loosely, making them look even more boyish than usual. Pleating looked intentionally clumsy, emphasized by exaggeratedly short or long lengths. Sateen fabrics highlighted visual texture as well, offered in an assortment of peachy shades. But of all Suen’s designs, the cropped aviator jacket in periwinkle blue was the most darling.
