Trinkets: Private Policy Spring/Summer 2018 NYFWM

Somewhere between punk king and queer cowboy are some serious conversation pieces.

It’s time to wear your patriotism on your sleeve. If Private Policy’s Fall/Winter multiculti flag biker jacket was any indication, the American dream is not dead. And this season they’re out to prove it. Entitled “Trinkets”, the inspiration for this collection was taken from the banality of the everyday.

From the bodega “Thank You Come Again” shopping bag, to the dusty ease of the American Southwest. Trinkets is a celebration of our nation’s rich heritage. Somewhere between punk king and queer cowboy are some serious conversation pieces too. Try crotchless trousers for starters. Or how about a plastic “Thank You Thank You” insignia coat for size? And not to worry, apparently, everything looks good with cowboy boots, (it kind of does).

Looking at their collection today brings me back to a conversation I recently had with a publicist weeks ago as he was showing me some old runway samples. “Their clothes are never in the office. They’re always being sent out,” he told me. Then he turned to me, leaned in, and said, “They’re kind of my favorite.” Mine too.
