Fengchen Wang reclaimed the motto and revitalized it to represent the beauty and culture of her native country.
Runway, Men, Collections, Runway

When something’s marked, “Made in China” it’s always seen with scorn and disappointment, a place that seems to be known only for low-quality goods. As a Chinese designer herself, Fengchen Wang reclaimed the motto and revitalized it to represent the beauty and culture of her native country. Muted neutrals paired with bubblegum pinks and bright shades of vermilion, a nod to the rural Chinese countryside and it’s national colors. But unlike the lazy countryside, Wang’s silhouettes are so wonderfully city-appropriate. Jackets blossom with pockets galore, and mesh overlays support her designs by providing a more rigid structure. The shapes are largely voluminous, but cinched and puckered where pulled with drawstrings and toggles. Showcasing China’s global relevance, Wang emblazoned the phrase, “Made in China,” slogan on her designs with nothing but confidence and pride.
